What kind of gun (BB, 22) do you think made this hole on the .@mtamaryland Light Rail? Several shots in the glass in different windows. https://t.co/fPWYcRmjl7

@melissa_schober Full disclosure: I hate it. As a college professor, I interact with more and more parents (now at the grad level…rare but happens). 4th graders need to be able to make mistakes (not doing homework, not studying) and see appropriate consequences to improve…not college ruining.

@melissa_schober Of course, helicopter parents usually enjoy socio-economic privilege so it seems logical to say, as you do, it favors the privileged.

@melissa_schober I talked to one of my kid’s teachers and while she thinks it is bonkers, she said a lot of parents in the school love it.
I think it favors helicopter parents and stunts the emotional growth of kids who literally can’t make a mistake in 4th grade or miss out on good HS.

@pgbovine @jeffbigham @gingdottwit I had a terrible realization that when I was my kids’ age, my parents’ oldies music of then is same as 1999 to my kids.
I wept.

@jeffbigham @cfiesler @eegilbert I wonder if there’s a bigger gap in productivity between R1s and comprehensives than in the 90’s? I think a set of non-TA 3x3 hour classes/semester still takes a lot of time and efficiencies aren’t realized like the difference between a chi-sq by hand vs R.

@sheepeeh Is it the bus stop? That’s the one I still use.
