@the_sidecarist @KevinACross Maybe what we’re expecting is too fast or requires too much torque? Too much liability for a little electric moped?

From a physical design perspective, the bike worked well going up a hill because I could stand. From a service design perspective, Lime has a lot to work on. From an electrical systems perspective, it sucked and I’d rather have mechanical gears. [fin]

When I ended my ride (I burned 13 calories according to the app), I put it next to a bike rack, slid the lock closed (clever actually) and then waited a good 2 minutes before my ride showed “done” netting an extra $.30 charge. [7/]

Now I was LARPing Sisyphus on my way back to the court house. Solid steel + ruggedly handsome rhino-like build + hill = sweaty mess that threw off the “dorkily cool I do cryptography for fun maybe not a good juror choice vibe” I was going for [6/]

Surprise! It didn’t. I was pedaling solid steel on busy streets. But to my chagrin….I had to go uphill [5/] https://t.co/K79w4AlTMI

What’s the rationale behind that? I stood there, looking through menu options to make them visible and had trouble finding one while walking around looking. Are they supposed to be bike-pokemon hybrids where I need to search for them? No, I just wanted to ride the bike [3/]

Let’s start with the service design. Lime makes you “unlock” the bikes. You have to come to a bike, scan it, and then you’re eligible to rent one. I knew they existed, and re-downloaded the app just to find one but they didn’t show on the map. Now I can see them [2/]
