I took a personality test (twice). The first time, I answered pretty honestly using the degrees of strong, somewhat, etc. I was ENFP. I took it again using absolutes and I was ENTP with same spread on other categies. Can you be ENXP?

@cfiesler @andicat @informor I took it to mean the word “You”. I now use “the authors” or “the paper”.

@Pixiestiks against someone with kids. Just a heads-up on that. Women experience it all the time in tech and I hear things that lead me to believe all engaged parents run that risk although you probably don’t want to be there anyway..so maybe flaunt it??

I hope some of that was helpful!

@Pixiestiks As a dad, I’m super proud of my kids but I don’t usually put that role on my portfolios/sites. People will learn that identity about you as time goes on. In reality, there are jerks out there (as @dhh) has called out who would discriminate [5/]

@Pixiestiks is super important at my house. Well, I sometimes go…it depends on the topic. But it’s not a regular thing for me. But, however you network, it’s important to have that “portfolio” with context as the thing to point people to when you meet them. [4/]

@Pixiestiks Once that is done (and you can use http://medium.com or a personal site or even LinkedIn), hit up recruiters. You can meet them online or in-person at meetups. I personally don’t go to meetups because I too have kids and family time [3/]

@Pixiestiks (drawings, models, UML, whatever) and how you solved it. Then discuss how it moved you forward and what you’ll take from the experience. Also mention what you did on it if it was a larger project with multiple people. [2/]

@Pixiestiks OK (multipart ahead): I tell my students to have a portfolio that tells the story of the thing you built, not just the thing…so pick 3 or 4 projects and write a few paragraphs about each that say what the problem was, how you approached it [1/]

Reviewing my last #chi2019 paper. It’s nice to see my .@EubieBee student’s work being cited in multiple papers and I’m essentially “et al”.
